Yes, we haven’t blogged in a while. Okay, it has been a year. But since Terry handed the responsibility over to me hopefully I can come up with the time, motivation and ideas to write about the winery and our wines more often in the next 12 months.

In our defense it has been a busy year of change at RPV. Last October we decided to relocate our tasting room to Leavenworth, Washington. It has turned out to be a great move for us. Not that I didn’t enjoy the peace and quiet that came with our Rock Island location. I got a lot of reading done, watched entire DVDs without interruption and caught up on my correspondence. But in Leavenworth we see customers much more often and I have rediscovered the joy of seeing people, talking about and pouring our wines and, most important to our survival, selling wine. Because once customers try our wines they fall in love and buy our wines. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. Plus being in Leavenworth is downright FUN! Right now we are looking forward to all the fall and winter Leavenworth festivals; like Oktoberfest and Christmas Lighting, and all the merriment that comes with them.

As if one move wasn’t enough we moved our production facility (the winery) from Rock Island to Quincy, Washington during the summer. This made sense because now all the things we need to make wine are closer to the vineyards we grow our grapes in. Another win-win situation (except for that part about having to move all that heavy equipment)! But it’s taillights to us now.

Now that we have that upheaval over and done with we are on to another project. This one is my personal baby, so I am extra excited about it. We are in the process of starting a wine club. If all goes well in the next few weeks you will be able to access this web site and sign up for our wine club. The plan is to send out two bottles every three months. Wine club shipments will be billed at 15% off winery tasting room prices. Members will get special discounts on all current wine releases and wine club reorders. They’ll also get notes from Craig, our winemaker, on the wines they receive and special pricing and first access to new releases. We already have customers ready and waiting. It’s definitely about time and I think it’s going to be a great success.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for RPV’s blog or wine club (or whatever!) feel free to email me at susan@ryanpatrickvineyards.com. Until then I’ll see you in the tasting room. -Susan
